About
Smart, sustainable, end-to-end water infrastructure management. It’s our world.
SDS Infrastructure helps you take control of water by developing, installing and operating more connected and effective solutions for the management of water as a safe and sustainable resource.

Who Are We?
SDS Infrastructure specialises in engineering innovative and cost-effective water management systems, ensuring that, from the point at which rainfall first meets the ground to its final destination, surface water runoff can be collected, treated, stored and reused or released safely, efficiently and sustainably.
SDS Infrastructure is part of the SDS Water group of companies, who together deliver total water security through the provision of truly integrated, end-to-end water management solutions.
From flood prevention, environment protection and drought mitigation, to water supply, sewerage treatment and asset management, SDS Water is your partner in water – for life.

What Do We Do?
We are innovators in water technology, identifying and delivering engineering solutions that enable global water infrastructure to operate sustainably and to its maximum efficiency potential.
We’re committed to continually developing innovative new engineering solutions to meet forthcoming market requirements and the demands of our increasingly diverse customer base and strive to deliver the best value in every project we handle.

How Do We Do It?
Our comprehensive range of services includes the design, manufacture, installation and even maintenance and adoption of our water management systems which treat and store water before controlling its return to the natural water cycle or retaining it for reuse or recycling.
Each solution is designed to meet the specific requirements of individual projects, allowing us to support our customers with a full-service, tailor-made solution. By taking responsibility for each element of the project, we can ensure that our systems will always operate as intended and to their maximum efficiency.

Why Do We Do It?
The UK’s water sector largely comprises of both naturally occurring bodies of water such as rivers, lakes and streams, and groundwater aquifers, as well as man-made systems including land and pluvial drainage, and surface water and flood management systems.
The infrastructure required in order to manage and control water was essentially engineered and built for the climatic, environmental and social conditions that existed much more than a century ago. It therefore requires radical rethinking and redevelopment as we progress through the 21st century.

Water Security – Expert View
“The global population faces significant water security threats related to water supply, water pollution, wastewater removal, sanitation and associated ill health, and the socio-economic impacts of droughts and floods.
Nowhere are these issues more acute than urban spaces and developing world contexts where radical new visions for water infrastructure and ways to cope with extreme events are required for a growing population”.

To continually reduce our impact on the environment is a fundamental driver of SDS’s approach to product development. It has underscored the extension several years ago of our product range from flood prevention to include surface water runoff treatment devices which we initially sourced from the US but soon transferred their manufacture to our Newport Weholite manufacturing facility. Alongside the development of our unique Aqua-Xchange™ material these products play a crucial role in preventing the damaging impact of contaminants within surface water runoff on our environment and the ecosystems that it supports.
More recently we have harnessed Internet-of-Things-enabled, smart technologies to not only optimise the performance of our surface water storage and treatment products but to extend our remit to the protection of water as a vital resource that is under threat from climate change, population growth and profligate consumption. Our rainwater and grey water harvesting and recycling systems provide an alternative to drinking water when a non-potable source will suffice, for example for the purpose of flushing toilets or irrigating green spaces.

The use of 100% recycled post-consumer PVC waste, which would otherwise be disposed of to landfill, with which to manufacture our market leading GEOlight® crates reflects our efforts to reduce the impact of our business operations. Furthermore, any material wastage or redundant tanks can themselves be recycled.
In contrast to their more widely used concrete alternatives the carbon footprint of our Weholite HDPE plastic products is in fact significantly lower once installation and lifetime operating costs have been taken into consideration.

Product Quality Standards
SDS products have been certified by the appropriate Certification Bodies sufficient to meet and where possible exceed their requisite standards for safety, operational performance, reliability and longevity.
Further details of certifications can be found in our Resources section.
ResourcesCompany History
SDS all started with a single great idea – our GEOlight® sustainable drainage system, which is now acknowledged, almost 25 years and around 40,000 installations later, as the UK’s leading geocellular stormwater attenuation system. Since then our product offering has grown to include a diverse range of SuDS and SuDS-related devices, extending from surface water storage, attenuation and infiltration to include runoff treatment and water conservation and recycling.
As SDS has grown its product offering it has acquired and partnered specialist organisations along the way, enabling their customers to retain uninterrupted service whilst further developing their capabilities, efficiencies and service levels. The breadth of water management solutions now offered by SDS, allied to prospective future acquisitions and further new product development such as Artificial Intelligence, has instigated the introduction of ‘SDS Water’.
SDS Water is unique in offering a truly integrated water management service, utilising an aligned group of specialist organisations to deliver this as broadly as might be required. This may include water supply and wastewater disposal and treatment services provided by partner company Albion Water, alongside devices and systems engineered by SDS Infrastructure that ensures water’s journey is managed efficiently, effectively and compliant with all regulations in force. As the master brand under which businesses such as SDS Infrastructure and Albion Water operate, SDS Water’s mission is to make sure more people in more places never face the challenge of too little, or too much, water.
Values and Culture
SDS Infrastructure shares the core values of its parent brand, SDS Water. We aim to be understanding, dependable and committed, and bring real positivity to what we do. We consider ourselves as experts and problem solvers, so that our customers see us as their partners and can rely on us to get things done the right way, even if not always the easiest way.
As innovators in water management, our level of end-to-end understanding is unrivalled. We know the water industry is going to face difficult challenges, from now on and into the future, so we’re tackling them – head on.
Total Water Security relies on clear truth well told, so we don’t just list the features of our products, we also explain their benefits – helping to enable a better, greater understanding of water management, supply and usage.
