In “hybrid” storm management systems, as represented in the graphic below, SDS-engineered water storage and treatment devices below-ground combine with, enhance the performance and extend the lifespan of, vegetative SuDS materials, such as ponds, swales and ditches, above-ground.
Allied to SDS Intellistorm® and SYMBiotIC™ smart technologies providing autonomous control, live monitoring and reporting, SDSengineered devices protect nature-based solutions from the impacts of excessive or insufficient rainfall, whilst also ensuring a consistent supply of water for irrigation and resource provision purposes.
SDS rainwater recycling helps improve the efficiency of water use and thereby reduce the consumption of potable water.
In addition to saving money, protecting the local environment and enhancing sustainability credentials, SDS rainwater recycling systems cut mains water consumption by up to 30% and reduce the establishment’s carbon footprint. These benefits can be enhanced still further with the inclusion of SDS grey water recycling.
When equipped with SDS Intellistorm® smart technology the rainwater collection vessel is emptied automatically in accordance with weather forecast data, thereby providing sufficient space in the vessel to receive the incoming rainwater and ensuring the maximum amount of water for reuse is continuously available. Consequently, where a new educational development must consider both flood resilience and water consumption impacts, there is no requirement for separate rainwater harvesting and attenuation systems.
