Retail

SDS water management systems provide substantial benefits in flood prevention, environment protection and drought mitigation to retail premises and developments.

Protecting retail premises, shopping centres and retail parks from the hazards of too much or too little rainfall.

SDS stormwater attenuation systems ensure that retail properties located in town high streets, shopping centres or retail parks are protected from the risk of excessive rainfall events which might otherwise lead to flooding.

SDS treatment devices ensure that surface water runoff from retail premises and sites does not impact on the local environment, whilst SDS rainwater harvesting and recycling systems help replace potable water with recycled rainwater where a non-potable supply is fit for purpose such as flushing toilets and cleaning shop windows and floors.

Engineered and nature-based SuDS combine to manage surface water effectively whilst delivering environmental, financial, and social and mental welfare, benefits.

In “hybrid” storm management systems, as represented in the graphic below, SDS-engineered water storage and treatment devices below-ground combine with, enhance the performance and extend the lifespan of, vegetative SuDS materials, such as ponds, swales and ditches, above-ground.

Allied to SDS Intellistorm® and SYMBiotIC™ smart technologies providing autonomous control, live monitoring and reporting, SDSengineered devices protect nature-based solutions from the impacts of excessive or insufficient rainfall, whilst also ensuring a consistent supply of water for irrigation and resource provision purposes.

SDS Intellistorm® smart rainwater recycling puts water reuse well within the reach of every project where SuDS are a planning requirement.

SDS Intellistorm® actively empties a rainwater collection vessel in accordance with weather forecast data, providing only sufficient space in the vessel to receive the incoming rainwater and ensuring the maximum amount of water for reuse is continuously available. So, where a new build development needs to consider both flood resilience and water consumption impact, there’s no need for separate rainwater harvesting and attenuation systems.

The graphic below represents our Intellistorm® system in a smallscale community scheme, in which six properties share access to a recycled rainwater storage tank for nonpotable purposes such as watering gardens or washing cars. Planned ideally in advance of the properties’ construction the tank can even be plumbed in to flush the toilets in each house.
