Geocellular Stormwater Attenuation and Soakaway System

SDS unique GEOlight® geocellular system has been specifically engineered to form underground water storage reservoirs in stormwater management schemes for subsequent attenuation, infiltration or reuse.

Manufactured entirely from post consumer recycled PVC waste the highly permeable honeycomb structure of GEOlight® provides a void ratio of over 95% thereby maximising its water storage capacity.

Features and Benefits

Ultra lightweight.

Easy to handle; a 1000m3 reservoir can be installed in one week.

Unique lateral and vertical filling arrangement.

Requires only a minimum amount of pipe work and stone; the depth of tank invert can be reduced by using patented lateral supply.

Modular format.

Offers design flexibility to overcome topographical constraints and architectural requirements.

Simplified distribution pipe network.

Provides easy maintenance, dispensing with costly and complicated pipe work configurations.

Highly permeable honeycomb structure.

Possesses excellent hydraulic characteristics, offering low resistance to water flow.

High void rate (95%).

Minimises the required volume of earthworks, reducing excavation costs.

High compressive strength.

Suitable for installation under all road, car park and amenity area surfaces.

How Does It Work?

A GEOlight® system consists of two manholes (inspection chambers) connected by a length of perforated distribution pipe which feeds the stormwater storage reservoirs on either side formed from GEOlight®.

The reservoirs and distribution pipe are wrapped in a waterproof membrane to prevent seepage of water into the surrounding ground whilst the top of each reservoir has a vent which is connected to the upstream manhole.

A geotextile is laid between the distribution pipe and GEOlight® to prevent the reservoirs being clogged by the draining materials.

The water storage capability of GEOlight® can be applied in a number of different ways:

  • Water recycling: Water can be pumped to a network of standpipes for irrigation as required.
  • Water pollution control: When combined with SDS Aqua-Filter™ filtration devices and SDS Aqua-Swirl® separators, GEOlight® systems can replenish groundwater without the risk of contamination from oil, chemicals, hydrocarbons or suspended solids.
  • Embankment protection: GEOlight® can be used to quickly form the base of embankments that only weigh a fraction of earth embankments (slope stabilisation).
