Flood Prevention
SDS surface water management systems help to prevent flooding by collecting and storing water which would otherwise be unable to soak into the ground naturally or overwhelm the drainage network.

Surface Water Storage, Attenuation and Infiltration
The controlled release of stored water to the drainage network or into the environment or the ground can be undertaken once weather and land conditions allow; alternatively, the water can be retained for further treatment and/or reuse as a non-potable water supply.
SDS Flood Prevention Solutions
Sustainable Drainage Systems, or ‘SuDS’ as they are most often referred to, lie at the core of the SDS product offering; in fact the company was founded 25 years ago on the strength of its manufacture and installation of GEOlight® geocellular storage crates.
Unlike vegetative, also known as “green”, SuDS, which typically comprise rain- and surface- water retention devices based on nature such as ponds, ditches and swales, engineered SuDS usually take the form of manufactured water storage tanks and crates, or rainwater harvesting butts.
By providing a collection vessel in which excessive rainfall can be retained and ultimately released at a controlled rate, engineered SuDS devices help mitigate the impact of storm events and reduce the risk of surface water flooding.

SDS SYMBiotIC™
SDS GEOlight® tanks partner with Weholite pipes and manholes
SDS GEOlight® storage tanks and Weholite conveyance and inspection equipment work together to ensure surface water is managed efficiently and effectively, from its point of entry into the SuDS system to its final release. Weholite manholes also provide a suitable location in which to house SDS SYMBiotIC™ smart monitoring and control devices.

Did You Know?
Surface water from excessive rainfall is the single largest contributor to flooding in the UK, threatening more people and properties than any other type of flood risk*.
